Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech – First Encounter with the Red City
Welcome at the airport and transfer to a riad in the heart of the Marrakech medina. Depending on arrival time, you’ll have the chance to explore the famous Jemaa el-Fna Square, vibrant by day and magical by night, and begin soaking in the Moroccan atmosphere.
Day 2: Guided Tour of Marrakech – Souks, Palaces, and Gardens
After breakfast, we begin a guided tour of Marrakech’s main historical monuments:
– Koutoubia Mosque
– Bahia Palace
– Saadian Tombs
– Majorelle and Menara Gardens
– The souks and artisan workshops
In the afternoon, free time to enjoy a traditional hammam or a dinner with a folkloric show.
Day 3: Marrakech – Tizi n’Tichka Pass – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley
Depart early heading south, crossing the High Atlas through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m). We stop at the spectacular Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the backdrop for many films.
We continue along the “Route of a Thousand Kasbahs,” passing through Ouarzazate and its film studios, until we reach the stunning Dades Valley, where we spend the night in a traditional riad.
Day 4: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga
After breakfast, we head toward the Todra Gorges, a 300-meter-high canyon ideal for walking and photography. We continue toward Erfoud, the fossil capital, and finally arrive in Merzouga, on the edge of the desert.
There, we ride camels across the Erg Chebbi dunes to reach a desert camp. Enjoy a Berber dinner, live music, and a night under the stars.
Day 5: Merzouga – Khamlia – Nomads – Oasis – Second Night in the Desert
Unforgettable sunrise among the dunes. After breakfast, we explore the surroundings of Merzouga by 4×4:
– Khamlia, the village of gnawa musicians
– Meeting with nomadic families
– Hidden oases and lunar landscapes
– Fossil mines and panoramic views of Erg Chebbi
We spend a second night in the desert, either in a standard or luxury camp, for a full immersion in the magic of the Sahara.
Day 6: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Cedar Forest – Fez
Leaveing the desert heading north. We cross the vast Ziz Valley, full of date palm groves, and ascend to Midelt in the Middle Atlas. We continue to Azrou, where we enter the cedar forest, home to the famous Barbary macaques.
The final stop of the day is Fez, an imperial city with a fascinating medina. Accommodation in a traditional riad.
Day 7: Guided Tour of Fez – Heritage and History
With a local guide, we explore the labyrinthine medina of Fez el-Bali, considered the largest car-free urban area in the world. We visit:
– Al Quaraouiyine University
– Chouara Tanneries
– Medieval madrasas and souks
– Royal Palace (exterior)
– The Blue Gate (Bab Boujloud)
Free afternoon to relax, shop, or get lost in the historic alleys.
Day 8: Fez – Volubilis – Meknes – Chefchaouen
We head north to discover Volubilis, the ancient Roman city with impressive mosaics. Then we visit Meknes, an imperial city known for its massive Bab Mansour gate, the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, and its calm, authentic atmosphere.
In the afternoon, we arrive in Chefchaouen, the iconic “blue town” of the Rif Mountains, where we spend the night in a riad with views of the old town.
Day 9: Chefchaouen – Tangier or Rabat – Casablanca
After enjoying the peace and charm of Chefchaouen in the morning, we depart for Casablanca. Optional stop in:
– Tangier, a cosmopolitan city between Africa and Europe
or
– Rabat, Morocco’s political and administrative capital, featuring the Hassan Tower, Kasbah of the Udayas, and Mausoleum of Mohammed V
Arrival in Casablanca in the afternoon and accommodation near the coast.
Day 10: Casablanca – City Tour – End of Trip
Depending on your flight schedule, we’ll visit Casablanca’s most iconic monument: the Hassan II Mosque, an architectural masterpiece facing the ocean.
After the visit, transfer to Mohammed V Airport for your return flight, with your heart full of unforgettable memories.
