Itinerary

Why Choose the Zagora Desert from Marrakech?

The Zagora Desert is ideal for travelers with limited time who want to experience a night under the stars in an authentic Berber camp, ride a camel, and enjoy desert landscapes. Unlike the more distant Merzouga Desert, Zagora is accessible in fewer hours and offers an equally charming version of the Moroccan Sahara.

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou – Draa Valley – Zagora

Crossing the High Atlas and Tizi n’Tichka Pass

Our journey begins early in the morning, departing from Marrakech heading south, crossing the High Atlas Mountains through the majestic Tizi n’Tichka Pass, at 2,260 meters above sea level. This stretch offers an impressive visual experience, with panoramic views of Berber villages, terraced fields, and snow-capped peaks.

Visit to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah

We make a must-stop at the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous as the filming location for Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and Lawrence of Arabia. Walking through its adobe alleys is stepping back in time and connecting with the history of southern Morocco.

Lunch in Ouarzazate and Route to the Draa Valley

We continue toward Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert,” where you can enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch. From here, we head to the impressive Draa Valley, the largest palm grove in Morocco, featuring landscapes that blend lush vegetation with traditional adobe architecture.

Arrival at Zagora Desert and Camel Ride

Upon arriving in Zagora, the camels await to start an unforgettable sunset camel ride that will take us to the desert camp. This ride is the perfect prelude to a magical night amidst the silence of the Sahara.

Night in a Berber Camp under the Stars

The night is spent in an authentic nomadic camp, where we enjoy a typical dinner by the fire, accompanied by traditional Berber music under a star-filled sky. It is a unique cultural experience that leaves an unforgettable mark on travelers’ hearts.

Day 2: Zagora – Agdz – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

Sunrise in the Desert and Traditional Breakfast

Waking up in the desert is one of the most mystical experiences of the trip. After watching the sunrise over the Zagora dunes, we enjoy a Moroccan breakfast at the camp before returning by camel to the meeting point with our driver.

Scenic Route Back to Marrakech

The return route takes us again through the Draa Valley, passing through villages like Agdz, known for its well-preserved kasbah architecture. We stop in Ouarzazate to visit, time permitting, the famous Atlas Film Studios and the Taourirt Kasbah.

Arrival in Marrakech in the Afternoon

After crossing the Tizi n’Tichka Pass again, we arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon, marking the end of this fascinating two-day tour.
